Chapter 10-12

pg:134

Quote Analysis1. Quote: I know what he was trying to do, but atticus was only a man. it takes a woman to do that kind of work.

2. Response: i chose this quote because it shows how Scout is growing up and maturing. i also chose this quote because it has a huge significance on the story because they were raised with out a mother so it is harder for Scout to regonize these things, which shows her maturity.

3. Significance: the significance is that scout is being more mature, and that scout apreciates what atticus does for them and to see how he tries.

Questions

1. how would you go about doing this if you were in atticuses situation?

2. Do you think Scout is maturing? how so?

Question
1. I'm confused about what apart of the book you took this quote from. Next time put a little caption below the quote.
2. In her own way yes she is maturing . She is beginning to understand the people around her better and have a better understand about why people do what they do. Yet she still is not becoming a lady like Aunt Alexandra would prefer.

Quote
Like I said for the first question you should include a caption under the quote so I can understand where you pulled this quote out of. I do agree with your significance though. Scout is starting to appreciate what her father does for her and Jem.

(to anthony) lol,tad kinda put in a page number above the quote >.>

1. I think that Scout is maturing too, but as Alexandra puts it, she need to learn how to grow as a lady. She is maturing but she is maturing as a tomboy. But at the same time, I think this book would have been a lot different if Scout had started out as a goody goody kind of girl, so her maturing as a tomboy could be a good thing.

2. I don't know how I would go about if I were in Atticus' position. He is kind of like the shame of the town to some people, yet he has done a very courageous thing by defending Tom Robinson to part of the town too.

3. As I said in my quote response, I think Scout is maturing but she is maturing very differently than she is expected to. But I think by maturing differently, the story has become much more interesting and has many more twists in it than if Scout had matured as a girly girl.
